Arriving in Budapest, thrilled to see what this wonderful capital had to offer, I didn’t particularly consider getting excited about my hotel - but let me tell you, I should have! Obviously, Budapest is a fabulous city offering a plethora of things to do and sights to see, but what really made my trip jump from ‘great’ to ‘incredible’ was my stay at the Sofitel Chain Bridge *****.
Firstly, the location. I stepped out of the taxi by the grand entrance to the hotel and could instantly see how close I was to River Danube and the eponymous Chain Bridge - and what a lovely sight. As well as the views, this hotel placed me in the perfect position for exploring Budapest’s other sights, with the Hungarian State Opera and Castle all in walking distance; making it the perfect base for a Budapest adventure.
The hotel ticked every box - it looked incredible, offered first class cuisine, provided perfect comfort, placed me in the heart of Budapest and even had the bonus of a luxury spa! The sophisticated French décor certainly evoked an exceptional first impression; the sleek atrium scattered with trendy furnishings in bold colours and creative lighting to enhance the contemporary-chic ambience. I wasn’t only impressed with the aesthetics, but the impeccable service from the friendly reception staff too!
This grand lobby opens into the Terrassa Restaurant, oozing with style and sophistication. Rose-tinted seats and bright mirrors create a dynamic ambience for its diners, sitting amongst slick wooden furniture, maintaining the crisp, modern design. Adopting a Hungarian-French menu, the dishes served are utterly irresistible - combining the traditions and authentic flavours of 2 fabulous cuisines.
Retiring to my gorgeous guestroom was always a treat. Here, luxury leads the way with a glistening marble bathroom branching from the light and spacious bedroom, featuring a neutral colour palette and a Sofitel MyBed, granting me night after night of comfortable bliss. As I looked out of my window on my last night in Budapest, admiring the superb view of the illuminated Chain Bridge glistening in the moonlight, I thought to myself… “city breaks don’t get better than this”.
