Of all the possible wonderful locations in Paris, a couple of strong contenders for the most magical are the Seine’s two remaining natural islands, which feel like the very heart and soul of the city. The larger of the two, Île de la Cité, is home to Notre Dame de Paris. The second island, which is linked to the first by the single-arch metal footbridge, is Île Saint-Louis. Here, surrounded on all sides by the eternal flow of the Seine, is the Hôtel du Jeu de Paume ****.

Chic idea: to make the most of your time in Paris, book your tickets here in advance for a wide range of activities.
