Upon landing in Lisbon we hired a car and drove the 50 minutes north to the town of Óbidos. A superbly preserved medieval castle stands on top of the hill, known as one of the seven wonders of Portugal. Below, there is an immense lagoon that flows into the ocean. In this idyllic setting, between the hill and the water, you will find the holiday homes and golf course of the luxurious tourist resort Bom Sucesso Resort.
Our holiday home was a geometric white structure, with big bay windows and a terrace that extended down to join straight onto the golf course. As we were with our children, we chose a family three-bedroom villa. My attention was drawn to the open fire, while the children were excited by the luxury of the home cinema! After having explored our new home we sat down on the outdoor sofa in front of hole no. 6 with a drink and a plate of cheese and crackers. This is all part of the wonderful welcome you can expect at Bom Successo Resort.
The little ones were very soon outdoors, leaving behind the home cinema once they saw the swimming pool and fantastic play park. Here, you are located in a luxurious holiday resort with everything the whole family needs to have a great time. As far as sports activities go, there is the excellent 18-hole golf course, a football pitch and tennis courts. The surrounding area, which is renowned for being one of the most well-preserved parts of Portugal, includes an extensive nature reserve. We rented bicycles to explore the countryside right to the banks of the lagoon, where the calm water is perfect for swimming and water sports. On that first day we went to the beach, leaving a visit to the centre of Óbidos for the following day.
There is a supermarket on-site, so it is really easy to eat comfortably and well in your new home. Still, it is holiday time for everyone, so you can also go to the Club House for Portuguese specialities or to the Maze pizzeria for an Italian meal. Takeaways, babysitting, beauty treatments, volleyball… Bom Sucesso Resort has it all!
