Villa Duflot ★★★★

Close to the town of Perpignan, in a park with lush vegetation, spot the terracotta walls of Villa Duflot, visible between the olives, pines, cypresses, eucalyptus and palm trees. The soothing green colour palette opens up to reveal an Italian-style villa that oozes an atmosphere of La Dolce Vita: shaded terraces, sunny patios, statues and fountains, every detail of the tranquil haven is reflected in the mirror-like surface of the outdoor pool.

The interior is filled with master paintings, Persian carpets, contemporary sculptures and antique furniture. Villa Duflot has 24 spacious, sound-proofed bedrooms, each one with a charm of its own. A large bed with a fluffy duvet, plumped pillows and luxurious linen promises a good night’s sleep. Art Deco furniture includes large seats perfect for sinking into and admiring the view; windows look out either onto the patio or onto the pool and tree-filled park. They are also complete with all mod cons you would expect from a four-star establishment: air-conditioning, mini bar, TV with satellite channels, Wi-Fi, and a spacious bathroom with bathtub, slippers and gown to wrap yourself up in after an indulgent soak.

Gastronomic pleasures are also plentiful thanks to Chef Mickaël Meunier. His menus are full of seasonal flavours from local produce. Dinner on the beautifully lit terrace is a treat for both the eyes and taste buds, and the blue and white dining room is cosy if there’s a nip in the air.

Villa Duflot is a haven for indulgence and pleasure. Even if it’s not the weather for a dip, the beautiful pool with its loungers all perfectly lined up is still pretty as a picture.
