Andaz Wall Street-a concept by Hyatt ★★★★★

The height of luxury in surprisingly peaceful Lower Manhattan.

By Jo Weston, VeryChic correspondent
We all think we know what to expect of New York City: bright lights, the frenetic buzz of Times Square, the laconic humour of Brooklyn and the profound satisfaction of seeing the world’s most photographed skyline for yourself. You would almost think there were no surprises left in the Big Apple, but we’ve discovered a fascinating, secret haven. On top of everything you would expect in a place of total luxury, the Andaz Wall Street – a concept by Hyatt *****, is yet more: a blissful, calm oasis of peace.

BY PLANE

  • New York is currently served by two main international airports: John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), located around 12 mi (20 km) southeast of Lower Manhattan, and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), located around 15 mi (24 km) southwest of Midtown Manhattan, in New Jersey.

Between them they receive international flights from a large number of airlines and destinations, including from most capitals and many large cities across Europe.

HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORTS TO THE HOTEL

  • From JFK International Airport:

    - By taxi: A comfortable although not very economical solution. Be sure to take a real, licensed taxi (choose one from the designated taxi rank at the airport). It costs about $50, plus any tolls on the way and the tip (15 %); all in all, the total is usually around $70.

    - By train: First take the AirTrain to Jamaica Station and then switch to the West Hempstead or Long Beach train to Atlantic Terminal. From there, take the subway line 3 to Wall St station.

    From Newark International Airport:

    - By shuttle bus / subway: The Newark Airport Express operates between Newark Airport and Manhattan. Get off at Grand Central Station and take subway train 4 or 5 to Wall St. station.

    - By train: Take bus no. 62 to Newark Penn Station. From there take the PATH train to the World Trade Centre, walk across to Park Pl subway station and take subway train 3 to Wall St station.
