Hotel Yasmin★★★★ SUP

Creative luxury adjoining Prague's Wenceslas Square.

By Jo Weston, VeryChic correspondent
I adore Prague. Ever since I set eyes on my grandfather's Bohemian crystal and heard tales of the 'City of a Thousand Spires', I felt an affinity with it. When I finally got to see the spires for myself and walk across Charles Bridge, the affinity turned into a full-blown love affair. So I go, every time I have the chance, or I find an excuse. This time, as I poured a glass of wine for an old friend in one of my favourite crystal glasses, she started lamenting that she had never been to Prague and would love to go shopping for handmade glass of her own. “Right, we're on!” I said, getting out my diary. I researched and found a hotel that looked great – the Hotel Yasmin **** Sup, right on Wenceslas Square.

This is the exhibition to see in Prague now, and held in the National Gallery you'll also find pieces by Monet, Klimt, Renoir, Van Gogh and more. http://en.ghmp.cz/733-alfons-mucha-the-slav- epic/
  • The Old Town – no trip to Prague should be attempted without setting aside plenty of time to explore the grand gothic streets of the Old Town. Walking tours are abundant, but you can also just follow your nose and be guided by your interest. And give in to intrigue, most of the edifices are just as stunning on the inside. Walk across Charles Bridge, ideally at dusk. Make sure to be outside the Astrological Clock as the hour strikes to watch the performance of its enigmatic figurines. http://www.prague.cz/prague-old-town.asp
  • Lesser Quarter (Mala Strana) – a step outside the Old Town over Charles Bridge, lies this picturesque residential area full of charming streets. Baroque squares open up to meet you, stunning architecture and cobbled alleys lead you back through time to give a quieter glimpse of Prague's yesteryears.
  • Castle District – a little walk to the hill which holds two of Prague's most magnificent buildings also affords you brilliant views over the city. The castle is atmospheric and haunting, and St. Vitus Cathedral surpasses Notre Dame in some people's opinion. It is certainly one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in Europe, and the stained glass inside is simply stunning. http://www.katedralasvatehovita.cz/cs
