Wild nature on your doorstep…
One of the most special aspects of this hotel is its proximity to the Berlin Zoo, the oldest zoo in the world. Guests can enter directly from the bar terrace, plunging straight into a world of magnificent wild animals and vast leafy enclosures. This wildness also penetrates the hotel thanks to the virtuoso design of Patricia Urquiola. While at first glance the interiors seem typical – rich wood floors, retro furniture, accent on leather, brass and other refined materials – there are many nods to the urban safari next door. Striking animal sculptures and artwork abound, including a carving of a huge crocodile head beckoning you into the lobby with smiling jaws, leather rhinos nuzzling at your feet in the chic bar and wire-mesh gorillas standing guard over your morning papers.
Raw creativity at every turn…
Not only does the interior design burst with creativity, but the hotel’s facilities also really push the envelope in terms of innovation. Chef Paco Pérez, for one, shatters expectations in his avant-garde creations at Cinco, transforming traditional Germanic potato and meat recipes or Mediterranean rice dishes using molecular processes. Meanwhile, the cutting edge in jazz and classical music is yours to discover at the hotel’s many live music events. Even the spa has an adventurous side – organic ingredients cultivated in the wild, that is – prizing natural products ensuring a nurturing experience the likes of which you probably have not had before.
