St. Petersburg is served by Pulkovo Airport (LED), located about 23 km / 14 mi south of the city centre.
The airport is fairly well served internationally, with a large number of flights from capitals and major cities across Europe. Many of those flights are operated by Rossiya Airlines, for which the airport serves as a hub.
RUSSIAN VISA
To travel to Russia, you must obtain a visa in advance at your local Russian Embassy or Consulate for a fee (the fee varies between countries).
To obtain the Russian Tourist Visa the following is required:
- An official "invitation" or "visa support" document (consisting of a 'Tourist voucher' & 'Tourist confirmation'), stamped and signed by authorised person, this can be obtained through the hotel and should be valid for the entire duration of your trip.
- Your original passport, with at least 2 blank visa-designated pages (the passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months after the expiry date of your visa.).
- One copy of the Russian Tourist Visa application form, completed and signed.
- One passport-size photo stuck to the application form.
As part of the visa application process, residents of some countries will need to visit a visa application centre to submit biometric data (scanned fingerprints). This includes the UK (centres are located in London, Manchester and Edinburgh).
If you’re travelling on a British passport issued since January 2017, you should make sure you’ve signed your passport before you travel. Some British nationals who haven’t signed their new passports have been denied entry into Russia.
