As stylish as it gets – modern design in the heart of Italy’s fashion capital

Exceptional

By Edward Fairbairn, VeryChic correspondent
Though you should never judge a book by its cover, Milan’s shiny veneer of fashion week catwalks and intimidatingly expensive designer boutiques is a reliable enough indication of the city’s character – an energetic, modern metropolis with no shortage of glamour and style. Yes, there is plenty more to Italy’s second largest city, including one of the world’s most iconic cathedrals, one of the most prestigious opera houses, and everything else from famous art galleries to secret gardens. It is, however, the Armani and Versace side of Milan’s personality that The Gray embodies. This is a world of glamorous contemporary design, where you can be pampered like a supermodel with luxurious facilities and drink cocktails at a bar which is one of the places to be. What’s more, just beside the Duomo, you are just a few steps away from discovering the fascinating historic side of Milan.

  • Supremely innovative, Michelin-starred cuisine at Al Pont de Ferr. The restaurant is rustic, traditional and hardly even noticeable from the outside, but the cuisine is modern and incredibly creative. www.pontdeferr.it/E_index.html#home
