While the beauty of the Greek Islands may be no secret, there are still some less well-known treasures to discover on the mainland. Beneath the sunny blue Mediterranean skies and facing the crystal-clear azure waters of the Aegean Sea, the five-star Cavo Olympo Luxury Hotel & Spa feels like it was made for the gods. Which is fitting considering its location near the town of Litochoro, at the foot of Mount Olympus, the legendary home of the ancient Greek gods. This place is making a name for itself as one of the best spots in Greece for luxury and relaxation.

Cavo Olympo Luxury Hotel & Spa ***** is an ultra-chic resort located in northern Greece, in the region of Central Macedonia. Found at the base of Mount Olympus and facing the Agean Sea the hotel is just outside the village of Plaka, around 2 km from the town of Litochoro, and 20 km from the city of Katerini.

BY PLANE

  • Thessaloniki Airport "Makedonia" (SKG), formerly Mikra Airport, sits 13 km / 8.1 mi south of Thessaloniki, and around 120 km / 80 mi (1 hour and 15 minutes') drive from the hotel. As the main airport of Northern Greece it receives a large number of flights from cities across Europe, including the UK. Many operate seasonally and flying indirect via Athens is an alternative.

    To the hotel:

    • To the hotel by car: major car rental companies can be found at the airport, this is both a convenient method of travelling to and from the hotel, and allows you to easily explore the region during your stay. It is around a 1 hour and 15 minute drive to the hotel.

    • To the hotel via public transport: first, either take a taxi or bus no. 78 to Thessaloniki train station. Catch a train to Litochoro (direction of Larissa), taking around an hour. From there, either take a taxi the remaining 4 km to the hotel or arrange in advance with the hotel for their shuttle service.
