  • Visit Crotone, a town founded by the Greeks in the 8th century BC. Famous for its successful athletes in the early Olympic Games and as the place where Pythagoras founded his school, it is a pretty town with a fascinating history.
  • Head up to the castle at Santa Severina. Known as the ‘stone ship’ for its position at the summit of a rocky cliff overlooking the River Neto, it enjoys spectacular views over the mountains, sea and surrounding area. Santa Severina also has a charming old town, cathedral.
  • Go to Capo Colonna, a beautiful headland and home to an ancient Greek column, remnant of the temple of Hera, who was the wife of Zeus and goddess of women and marriage.
  • All the surrounding villages are well worth a visit, nestled between sea and mountains. The history, natural beauty and typically delicious Calabrian cuisine in villages like Le Castella, Santa Severina, Caccuri etc. is all spectacular.
