The 14th arrondissement, or Montparnasse, has been home to famed artists over the past century, including the likes of Picasso, Fujita and Man Ray, all of whom lived in the road opposite the Hotel Aiglon. It is therefore no surprise that this neighbourhood on the left bank of the Seine is home to mythical restaurants, a large number of theatres and a range of museums that stem from the années folles, “the crazy years”. The essence of this cultural and artistic hub lives on within the walls of the Hotel Aiglon and its iconic décor.
Two renowned designers were commissioned to redesign the building of the Hotel Aiglon, which dates back to the 1930s. To retain the early 20th century Parisian atmosphere throughout the hotel, Cybele Paluel Marmont worked to preserve the building’s Art Deco style with tastefully painted walls and a fitting choice of door handles and small balcony railings in some rooms. Mathilde Jonquière, on her side, produced some wonderful mosaic frescos on the building façade and in the bathrooms. The communal areas are equally well decorated, with a raspberry-coloured breakfast room and a contemporary lounge in fuchsia and sky-blue colours. The latter also acts as an intimate library with a selection of art books to enjoy in complete comfort and serenity.
The rooms here are modern and dotted with high-quality amenities to enhance your stay, whether it is through the luxuriously branded fabrics, the Sothys beauty products or the Mariages Frères tea and coffee, as well as the acclaimed Fauchon hot chocolate.
