Beautiful in its scenery, interesting in its culture, the Cote d’Azur is a stunning area for those looking for that little bit more for their holiday. With over 300 days of sunshine a year, the French Riviera is the epicentre of Hollywood’s golden age, where Grace Kelly, later known as Grace of Monaco, lived and where Frank Sinatra spent his summer months floating on his gorgeous yacht. Along the coast of the Cote d’Azur, located only 30 minutes from the glitz and glam of Cannes and the beauty of Nice is the charming town of Villeneuve Loubet Plage. A haven for that perfect sea-side holiday.
This was my first time in the French Riviera, and with no expectations, I arrived at Mercure Villeneuve Loubet Plage. Located on the coast, and with the true beauty of the white, Mediterranean style villas, we entered the hotel’s reception. I was greeted by the lovely and kind staff who showed me to my room; I was amazed to say the least. The soft white linen and cool tones of the room perfectly complemented the beautiful view of the sea from our terrace, which expanded far and wide. It was luxurious, stylish, and most importantly peaceful.
The beach located directly in front of the hotel was glorious, with glistening sands and pristine blue waters. We walked further along and found water sports equipment available for rent, perfect for those with families or young children. There was also a diving centre at the other end of the beach, offering dives for all levels of experience so you will never be short of activities to do.
We spent the afternoon relaxing in the Mediterranean sun by the pool. The comfy sun loungers were dotted around, all facing the glistening beach. We were offered cocktails and nibbles which we gladly accepted. In the evening, we went to the hotel’s restaurant, Les Terrasses du Syracuse. There, we enjoyed the fresh fish and homemade gnocci, all served with the flare and style from the restaurant’s young chef with his ‘cuisine inventive’. We had a cocktail after dinner at the rooftop bar, a romantic and charming setting with sea views that spanned for miles. It was, to say the least, the perfect way to end the evening at Mercure Villeveuve Loubet Plage. And so, we fully understood why people loved it here so much. The tranquillity, the attention to detail and the luxurious feel makes this hotel a very special one indeed.
