  • Olive Wood - Of course you see standard tourist shops in Kos town, but Olive Wood really is a cut above. It has hand-carved objects d’art which definitely pass the ‘would I have this in my living room’ test!

  • Michael Archangelos Sailing - You can find some really good semi-private sailing tours of the islands and hidden beaches without being crammed on a standard tourist boat! This company takes limited numbers, 12 total on our trip, on a wooden sailing boat. It provides a lovely experience and good food too.

  • Plaka Forest - It’s a small island…under an hour in the car will take you the full length of the island and halfway in the middle is Plaka Forest, a lovely natural wooded area full of peacocks roaming freely. It’s a nice way to see the sights of the island, and a beautiful walk through the forest.
  • Hippocrates Garden Cultural Centre - This is a lot more interesting than the Hippocrates Tree in the centre of Kos town, which is, well … a tree. The cultural centre has an example of an ancient Greek house and lots of information on Hippocrates’ ideas about health and wellbeing.
