Angsana Corfu Resort & Spa ★★★★★

A unique blend of Greek and Asian hospitality, Angsana Corfu Resort & Spa sits right on top of a soft, white, sandy beach. In close proximity is the admirable Achilleion Palace, once home to the Empress Sissi of Austria, while a short 12km drive south will take you to an UNESCO World Heritage site that flaunts a magnificent, imposing old fortress and soft, sandy shores.

Our bedroom was airy, bright and expansive, with soft, calming tones of magnolia, blended with shades of brown and cream. The glass balcony enabled us to enjoy an uninterrupted view of the far-reaching, beautiful blue Ionian Sea from the bedroom, our king sized bed, with plush bedding making us feel right at ease. The pristine, marble bathroom with a luxurious power shower was a highlight every morning, setting us up for a positive, peaceful day.

The exotic islets of Paxoi and Antipaxoi are closeby, where you can take a boat ride out to the fabulous grottos the jut out into the pristine, turquoise waters. Kaiser Bridge Beach is just 900 metres away and of course, Beach Benitses with its pebbled shore, ideal for a swim. A vast and rich history encapsulates your surroundings. We were not bored with Achilleion Palace a walk away, and further on, Panagia Vlahernon Greek Orthodox Church surrounded by water, worth a visit.

This restful resort encapsulates Greek cuisine perfectly, with four fabulous signature restaurants available at your fingertips, from the casual, Cosmopolitan vibe of Ruen Romsai serving local and international dishes to Botrini’s, for a tantalising culinary experience. Vertigo Bar, on the hotel rooftop offers breath-taking views of the placid blue ocean and pool below. Retreat here for a cocktail and dance to DJ sets as the sun melts, or take advantage of the telescopes provided to star gaze.
