A hotel hideaway
A solitary sanctuary on a mountain top, this is the epitome of a retreat – a place to hide away and be both comforted and awed by the beauty of nature. Perhaps the biggest luxury in today’s modern world, this is a place where you can truly feel a million miles from anywhere, removed from the banalities of everyday life. Just like its earliest visitors, here at Refuge du Montenvers you are given the rare opportunity to delight in the tranquility and majesty of nature at its finest.
The charm of yesteryear
It’s easy to imagine the elite of 19th century society gathered in the warmth of these wood-panelled walls, discussing nature, philosophy and man’s place in the world. All the character of this Alpine past has been retained, while tasteful renovations have brought added comfort and contemporary style. Refurbished furniture and fittings – think roll-top baths and Victorian fireplaces – meet rich, colourful accents and soft fabrics to create cosy yet unfussy chalet-style chic.
An adventurous spirit
All visitors here have one thing in common – a taste for exploration and discovery. With France’s largest glacier, the Mer de Glace, on your doorstep, you can easily trace the footsteps of the earliest adventurers. But if you prefer to take it all in from the comfort of the hotel, the views that are almost too good to be real are available from every window and terrace area. The Refuge du Montenvers is the perfect shelter for your very own unforgettable Alpine adventure.
