View all offersA small, refined guesthouse with a classic twist, Dimora ai Fori is set on the second floor of a renovated early 20th century establishment. On the corner of Via delle Carrette, a historical alley where carts once carried wine from the Castelli Romani area to the Forums on market days, the hotel is in Rome’s historical centre. Walk to the infamous Colosseum and Imperial Forms in minutes, and stroll through the Monti neighbourhood, teeming with trendy eateries and bars.
I recall waking up to views of the molten hot sun from our superior room, rising over the ancient Forum ruins. Below see glimpses of the Via Sacra, the oldest road in Rome, meaning sacred street, where ancient temples and holy sites once stood. We had a lovely complimentary glass of wine from our cosy room with its blend of elegant furnishings and mosaic-like cushions, a nod to Roman mosaic art. We appreciated the plastic-free minibar, our Nespresso machine and vanity set in the spotless marble bathroom.
From the hotel, it’s possible to rent a bike or scooter, and explore the Italian capital in style! Be wary of driving in Rome, it can get quite chaotic. Bask in the mesmerizing views when you reach Palatine Hill, according to legend, it was on this hill that Romulus founded the city in 753 BCE. Climb the Spanish steps, stop for a gelato by the Pantheon and visit the Vatican City, where you will find the world-renowned Sistine Chapel and captivating works of art at the Vatican museums. Whether you come for art, history, food or Baci chocolates, you’ll find it in the Eternal City.
