Sumus Hotel Monteplaya 4* SUP - Adults Only, set on the seafront was just what we needed for a refreshing, peaceful and restful stay. After a warm welcome, followed with a complimentary drink, we ambled through the grounds, and watched the lit-up cascade fall softly from the pool. We particularly adored the zen garden, the ambience is just as the garden name suggests, very ‘zen’ like, calming and lush. Luxury beauty cabins are set here, where I experienced foot reflexology for the first time, and an osteopathic massage, after which I felt like a whole new person.

The rooms were newly renovated, equipped with air conditioning which you need with a Mediterranean climate, tea and coffee and a mini fridge, where we could keep our water bottles pleasantly cold. Our Superior was beautifully modern, spotless white sheets draped the bed, decorated with rose coloured throws and cushions that matched the wallpaper above the bed. Outside on the balcony, we enjoyed a cup of tea while looking into the sea, past the palms and the trees.

The main pool is sandwiched between a cosy hammock area and the lounge bar sofas, the sky blue reflected in the water. Waterfalls and jets are a fantastic way to avail of a free shoulder massage, the pressurised water kneading out any trapped muscle tension. If there are cooler days, or to escape the molten hot summer sun, sit yourself down in the reading lounge or set aside pampering time in a zen garden cabana.

Close to the hotel, we were spoilt for choice with a range of activities to keep us moving throughout the day. Spacious paddle and squash courts, along with tennis or more laidback minigolf are all within 50 metres from your doorstep.
