Ponta Delgada - João Paulo II Airport (PDL), sits about 2km / 1.2mi west of Ponta Delgada city centre, on the island of São Miguel.
The airport is both the main and busiest in the Azores. It has scheduled domestic flights between all islands of the Azores, along with Madeira and the Portuguese mainland. The airport does also receives direct flights, regular and seasonal, from a number of major cities across Europe, including the UK.
