Austria Trend Park Royal Palace ★★★★S

A splash of modern style and luxury in a city full of history.

By Edward Fairbairn, VeryChic correspondent
Nestled amid an extensive park just outside Vienna, the Schönbrunn Palace was built in the 17th century to rival the Château de Versailles in Paris, but this goal was ultimately unsuccessful thanks to the French monarchy’s superior funds. However, just a five minute stroll away, perhaps the Austria Trend Hotel Park Royal Palace **** would give Louis XIV more of a run for his money. Yes, it may lack the baroque splendour of its Parisian counterpart, but it is certainly suitably luxurious. Louis was never treated to the very finest 21st century comfort, sleek design, a high-tech gym and relaxation centre, and a chic bar and restaurant. This is the perfect modern day answer to any grand palace, a smooth blend of contemporary design and outstanding facilities in a fantastic location, away from the city centre but within waltzing distance of all of Vienna’s main attractions.

  • You may be able to find zoos everywhere, but do not let that put you off Vienna’s. The Tiergarten Schönbrunn is in the grounds of the Schönbrunn Palace and is the world’s oldest zoo.
