The Victoria Hotel ★★★★

Victorian-inspired hotel in the chic, waterfront town of Sliema

By Lizzie Davey, VeryChic correspondent
The small island of Malta is not “just another island,” despite its edging of sandy shores and azure waters fooling people into thinking it is. In fact, Malta is crammed with a rich, vibrant history which is tangible all around – in the rolling ramparts, the rustic churches, and in the ubiquitous reminders of stories of the Knights of Malta. Power over this strategically important island has been contested by emperors and dictators for years, and its past influences are still visible on the island today. For 150 years, Britain ruled the island, and in the high ceilings and chandeliers of The Victoria Hotel, traditional nineteenth-century-inspired style creates a luxurious destination in the chic town of Sliema.
