ADMINISTRATIVE FORMALITIES
A passport which is valid for at least 6 months after your scheduled return date is required.
Citizens of most European countries, including the United Kingdom, are eligible to enter the United States for business or tourism, under the Visa Waiver Program. In this case, you must apply for the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) prior to boarding your flight to the United States. For more information, or to apply for your ESTA, please visit the official ESTA website.
It is recommended to apply at least 72 hours prior to travel. The ESTA is valid for up to two years and allows for multiple entries of up to 90 days each into the United States (if you receive a new passport during the two-year period, you will have to reapply for your ESTA).
BY PLANE
New York is currently served by two main international airports. Between them they receive international flights from around the world, including major cities across the UK and the rest of Europe.
- John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) sits about 12mi / 20km southeast of Lower Manhattan.
- Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) sits about 15mi / 24km southwest of Midtown Manhattan, in New Jersey.
To the hotel:
From John F. Kennedy Airport:
• Taxi: Upon exiting the airport, head to the designated taxi rank and ensure you board a licensed taxi. Although this option can be pricey, it provides direct access to your destination. Expect additional charges for any tolls along the route, and customary tipping is around 15%.
• Train: Take the AirTrain JFK to Jamaica Station. Transfer to the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) and take the Manhattan-bound train to Penn Station. From Penn Station, transfer to the subway and take the G train towards Court Square. Get off at the Metropolitan Avenue station. From there, it's about a 10-minute walk to Wythe Hotel at 80 Wythe Avenue.
• Bus: Take the NYC Airporter bus service from JFK Airport to Grand Central Terminal. From Grand Central Terminal, take the 7 train towards Flushing Main Street. Get off at the Court Square station. From there, transfer to the G train towards Brooklyn-Queens. Get off at the Metropolitan Avenue station. Wythe Hotel is a short walk from there.
From Newark Liberty Airport:
• Train: After arriving at Newark Liberty Airport, follow signs for the AirTrain to reach Newark Airport Railroad Station. From there, board the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor Line train towards New York Penn Station. Get off at Penn Station. Then, follow the subway transfer instructions mentioned earlier to reach Wythe Hotel.
From Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays and French bank holidays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
