The Sofia Sea View boasts a beautiful location in the small fishing village of Pwani Mchangani on the s northeast coast of Zanzibar island, with some stunning ocean views, away from the more touristic spots on the island.

ADMINISTRATIVE FORMALITIES

  • Visa requirements:
    Citizens from most countries required a visa for entry into Tanzania. Citizens from the UK and countries in the EU may obtain single entry tourist or business visa upon arrival at the airport in Tanzania, however, it is recommended to obtain one in advance from your nearest Tanzanian Embassy. The following are required:

    • a passport valid for at least 6 months after the entry date
    • a completed visa application form and payment of the visa fee
    • 2 passport size photographs (if applying in advance via an embassy)

    Vaccination recommendations / requirements:
    Most travellers are recommended to be vaccinated against Hepatitis A, Tetanus and Typhoid before travel to Tanzania. And, although not listed as a Yellow Fever endemic country, Zanzibar immigration officials may ask to see a Yellow Fever vaccination or exemption certificate upon arrival from the mainland.

PLANE

  • Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) sits just south of Zanzibar City, about 48km / 30mi / a little over 1 hours' drive from the hotel. The airport receives some direct flights from Europe, otherwise, fly indirect via one of those European cities, via Tanzania's capital, Dar es Salaam, or Nairobi in Kenya.

    It is possible to book a transfer service in advance with the hotel from/back to Zanzibar Airport for an extra charge, and providing your flight arrival/departure details.

  • Covid-19 health & travel rules for Tanzania:
    As of February 2023, most Covid-19 restrictions/requirements have been lifted in Tanzania, however, we recommend looking up the most up-to-date information prior to travel. Be sure also to check your own government's travel advice for Tanzania, and for your return journey.
  • 5 night minimum stay
  • For all departures in 50 days or more, the remaining balance will be automatically debited 45 days prior to departure
