It takes its name from Aralauna, the Celtic goddess of springs. It is in Arlon that the graceful Semois river rises from the earth. A crossroads of Roman roads, it is now the capital of the province of Luxembourg. However, it is neither fully Belgian, nor yet grand-ducal or French; it is the daughter of three borders. All around, it’s the Arelerland, where the Luxembourgish language coexists with its Romance counterpart.
