Hotel Grums Barcelona ★★★★
Palaudàries, 26
08004
Barcelona
Spain
Grums Barcelona Hotel **** has a fantastic location at the foot of Montjuic hill, in the up and coming neighbourhood of Poble Sec. The hotel is next to the park Mirador del Poble Sec and also the port of Barcelona.
Barcelona is served mainly by Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN), found just 12 km (7.5 mi) southwest of the city centre.
The airport is well served by flights from capitals and large cities all across Europe. While many airlines operate to and from Barcelona-El Prat, it acts notably as a main base for Vueling, and as a hub for Iberia, Air Europa, Ryanair, and Norwegian Air Shuttle.
We recommend flying to Barcelona-El Prat Airport as it is much closer and more convenient for reaching the city centre. However, low-cost airlines (most notably Ryanair) fly from a number of European destinations to Girona–Costa Brava Airport (GRO), located around 100km north of Barcelona. Some low-cost airlines, mostly from the UK and Ireland, also fly to Reus Airport (REU), located around 100 km (62 mi) southwest of Barcelona.
Getting to the hotel from Barcelona-El Prat airport:
- By taxi: Taxis are located outside all the main terminal exits and operate all night. Journeying to the city centre usually takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic. The cost is around €25 from T2 and €30 from T1 (which is further), with surcharges for luggage. Be sure to take an official, black and yellow Barcelona taxi.
- By train: The cheapest and fastest way of getting to and from the airport. Trains run approximately every 30 minutes to Barcelona, taking around 25 minutes. A single airport ticket costs more than a regular single and is not necessarily the best option. Possibly the most cost-efficient, especially if you plan on using public transport during your stay, is the T10. At just under €10, it is valid for 10 journeys (including the airport zone) with no expiry date. It can also be shared by more than one person at a time and works on trains, buses and trams.
When taking the train you need to get off at Passeig de Gracia, from there switch to the metro and take the line 2 (purple) down three stops to Paral-lel.
- By bus: Aerobus run express buses between the airport and city centre. Tickets are €5.90 for a single and €10.20 return. You should get off and Plaça de Catalunya, from there switch to the metro and take the line 1 (red) for one stop to Universitat and then change for line 2 (purple) for two stops down to Paral-lel; or take a taxi.
At night there are two night buses NitBus, the N17 from Terminal 1 and the N16 from Terminal 2. A single ticket is €2.15 (you can also use the T10). They also stop around Plaça de Catalunya.
Getting to the hotel from Girona–Costa Brava airport:
- By bus: The most convenient method; the Barcelona Bus to Barcelona city centre, run by Sagalés, coincides with Ryanair flight times. A return ticket costs €25 and can be purchased from the Sagalés booth at the Girona airport. The bus goes to Barcelona Nord bus station and the closest metro from there is Arc de Triomf (line 1, Red); it is then three stops to Universitat for a change to line 2 (purple) a further two stops to Paral-lel. Those not arriving on a Ryanair flight should check to see if their flight coincides with a Barcelona Bus, otherwise it may be necessary to take a train from Girona city centre.
- By train: First take a bus (part of the Sagalés service) to Girona city centre, buses leave every 30 minutes and take 25 minutes (returning, buses leave on the hour from Girona). A ticket is around €2 single and €4 return. From there take a train to Barcelona Sants, taking around 40 minutes. From Sants, take the metro line 3 (green) down four stops to Paral-lel.
The closest metro stop is Paral-lel served by line 2 (purple) and line 3 (green). It’s a few minutes’ walk to the hotel, down the street Carrer d'En Fontrodona taking the first left onto Carrer Vila i Vilà. Continuing down take a right at Carrer de Palaudàries.
We recommend that you book activities online in advance in order to make the most of your time in Barcelona.
