Recently I was lucky enough to discover a place that reminded me of the delights of life’s simple pleasures, making me realise that true happiness is found in those little things in life that leave you feeling happy and content. I mean things like enjoying the laidback lifestyle of the Aveyron, sitting down in Chef Michel Truchon’s award-winning restaurant and letting the history of this region wash over you during walks to the surrounding countryside and towns.

As soon as you arrive, you feel removed from the outside world. You walk up a few steps and cross the terrace overlooking the village and countryside, before stepping into an immense lounge, separated from the dining room by an impressive iron sculpture. The place has been infused with the character of its owners who, like the sculpture (and the village itself), know that refinement always comes with a dash of earthiness.

However, having character does not mean being old-fashioned. The bedrooms reveal a modern feel, though maintain a traditional touch. The terracotta floors are enhanced by colourful walls and soft lighting, resulting in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Of course, you have everything you need to feel comfortable including a luxurious bathroom, gorgeous bed, flat-screen television and free WiFi. They haven’t left anything out, but you will see that this place inspires reading, thought and the pleasures of fine food more than sitting in front of a screen.

Your days at Senechal Hotel begin the best way possible, with a breakfast made up solely of fresh homemade products. With bread, jams, croissants, fruit juices, yoghurt, apple compotes and cheese, the hosts offer their guests a veritable feast that can be enjoyed in your bedroom or in the breakfast room.

Whether you go for lunch or dinner, the result is the same: you leave your taste buds in the hands of the experts for an unforgettable gastronomic experience. Michel brings together different ingredients that remind you above all that meals here are made to be shared with family and friends, in the welcoming atmosphere of the Senechal.
