The Italian word faraglioni refers to stacks of coastal rock formations created by erosion from the waves. These marvellous formations can be found on the Gargano Peninsula which is also home to the Hotel Residence Il Porto ****.   • Archaeological remains on Mount Saraceno, including a necropolis with more than 500 Daunian graves, which attest to human life as early as the 6th century B.C.
  • If you’re a history buff, you’ll love the ruins of the Santissima Trinità and the ruins of the Roman town of Matinum, not far from the harbour. Excavations revealed this town, which disappeared following an unknown event, possibly an earthquake. Ask the hotel for directions to these sites.
