Tucked away in the winding backstreets of Prague’s Old Town, in amongst a mix of Gothic pinnacles, Romanesque churches, Renaissance town houses and modern Cubist architecture, the Hotel Moods is the perfect setting for a story itself. With its nature-inspired interior design, dreamy colours and stylish furniture, it’s the perfect place to lay your head too.
Upon entering the lobby, decorated with moss and stones and a large bamboo desk, the tale begins.
“There was nobody anywhere, but all of a sudden everything around me reminded me of my childhood…. Could it be that the storm had taken me all the way back to Prague, where I grew up? Would I still remember the way through the twisted streets to my family house?” (The Three Golden Keys by Peter Sís)
While the public spaces are soft and muted in natural tones, the upper floors are a riot of colour – with every floor having its own designated hue. How about staying on a happy sunshine yellow floor, or perhaps romantic pink or a peaceful turquoise?
After a warm welcome by staff, you’ll receive your room key and the narrative will continue:
“The key is a symbol of protection and insurance. The key guards. It gives one power to enter… Janus, Roman god of gates had a golden key. So does Saint Peter at heaven’s gate. Throughout history, keys from the city have been given by people to people. Two keys to the special visitors, three to the very special ones.”(The Three Golden Keys by Peter Sís)
The bedrooms come furnished with handmade Hästens Swedish beds, soft dimmable lighting and all the latest mod cons. You can even choose the setting for your story with customisable in-room lighting to suit your every mood.
Return to the Hotel Moods again or stay in various rooms during your break and you’ll be able to learn the whole story of how a black cat with magic eyes appears and leads the man through the lonely, silent streets in search of the keys. You’ll read how three times the man and the cat come to a special place from his childhood and how three times an old Czech legend is revealed to them. To each legend a golden key is attached. So, with three golden keys in hand, the man opens the padlocks on the door of his childhood home and the deserted city comes alive…
The author wrote the story for his American-born daughter Madeline to ensure that she won’t forget her Czech heritage and gives visitors a great insight into the city of Prague, its customs and culture.
Continue your fantasy and dream-like state by taking advantage of the Asian therapy techniques at Mood’s spa. Relax with an in-room Thai massage or enjoy a full back rub, oil massage or reflexology treatment in the spa itself.
And of course, stories and adventure always cause you to work up an appetite. Thankfully you can refuel at any time during the story, as Hotel Moods offers a delicious breakfast 24 hours a day. Orders can be taken on hotel apps or sticky post-it notes placed on your door. If you’re looking for something a little more substantial, however, book a table at the Moods restaurant where you can gorge on dishes such as grilled pork tenderloin with a mild pepper sauce and American potatoes, or salmon with thyme and lime and creamy sweet potatoes with a ricotta gratin. After dinner drinks can be enjoyed in the Moods bar where you can choose from a selection of local Czech wines, spirits and beers.
Here’s hoping that your stay at the Hotel Moods provides you with a happily ever after.
