Kempinski Hotel Bristol Berlin ★★★★★

A sumptuous oasis of classic comfort in the heart of Berlin.

By Melissa Leighty, VeryChic correspondent
They say Berlin has it all; museums, historical sites, shopping, dining…and where better to explore the city’s scene from than the Kempinski Hotel Bristol Berlin*****. Situated in the ritzy area of Ku’damm, it’s a mere stone’s throw from the lively heart of this European capital, yet still a refuge from the sights and sounds of the city. As well as an oasis of incredible indoor shopping, fine dining, luxury services and a superb collection of classically-styled rooms and suites, we found ourselves contentedly ensconced in upscale elegance with an attentive staff who attended to our every need. Despite the draw of the dynamic city at its doorstep, this magnificent hotel was, unquestionably, the star that stole the show.

  • Bar Tausend, one of Berlin’s best-kept secrets, lying behind an unmarked black door found underneath Paris-Moskau railway line at the Bahnhof Friedrichstrasse in Mitte. The doorman will make you wait for your spot, but it’s worth it to get into this exclusive establishment. The futuristic interior with its curved metal, glass ceiling and walls and black accents is an experience in itself, but the drinks are expertly made and the creative cuisine is equally excellent. • Cookies Cream might be a vegetarian restaurant, but don’t let that dissuade you. This hidden gem is a little hard to find behind the Westin Hotel, but it’s certainly worth the search, as it offers a unique approach to seasonal vegetarian cuisine. Behrenstraße 55, 10117, Berlin, Germany.
