Faro Airport (FAO) is located 4 km / 2.5 mi west of Faro, in the Algarve.
It is a fairly well served international airport which receives flights from many capitals and major cities across Europe, as well as minor cities in the UK. Most of the flights to this airport operate seasonally, however the airport is a base for Ryanair, and the airline operates a number of year-round flights.
Another option is to fly to Lisbon Airport (LIS), around 2 hours and 25 minutes' drive to the north.
FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL
From Faro Airport:
- By transfer service: there are many transfer companies that operate from the airport to the surrounding area; prices vary from company to company but can cost from 4€-10€. It is recommended to use a transfer service rather than a taxi (there are taxis located outside the airport) and to book in advance. A few examples of companies are: AlgarveSun, Yellow Fish Transfers and Holiday Taxis.
- By car: we recommend renting a car, as it will be far easier to get around and to explore this wonderful area. At the airport, there are many major car rental companies (book in advance).Directions: from the airport, head onto the N125-10, taking the 2nd exit at the roundabout then continnuing ahead for 10km. At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit to stay on N125 for another 2.1km. Coming into Olhao, take the 1st exit at the roundabout onto Av. 5 de Outubro, continuing fr 500m before turning left onto R. José Saramago. Continue onto Tv. da Feira for 140m before turning right onto R. Dr. Alberto Iria, then after 300m another right onto Av 5 de Outubro. After one more right turn you should reach your hotel.
From Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays and French bank holidays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
