When you think of Marseille, the second largest city in France, the images that come to mind might be that of a typical large, busy port city. In New Hotel Bompard****, nestled in the hills of Marseille, you can explore the city’s gentler side. Visit the fish market at the Old Port in the early morning to see the day’s catch; take a day cruise along the beautiful wild coast stretching to Cassis; pop into the Marius Fabre Marseille soap factory, or tour the city in a 2CV before a compulsory sampling of pastis, the local aniseed-flavoured liqueur. Magnifique!
