Hôtel Le Sénéchal is located on the western side of the Ile de Ré, off France’s west coast near La Rochelle. It is nestled in the small village of Ars-en-Ré, near the port and island’s beautiful beaches.
BY PLANE
The closest airport to the hotel is La Rochelle – Île de Ré Airport, about 5km (3 mi) many low cost airlines such as Ryaniar and Easyjet fly to this airport, mostly from London airports. However, flights are often seasonal and irregular.
It might be more convenient to fly to Nantes Atlantique Airport, about 141 km (87 mi), about 1 hour and a half drive from the hotel, flights are listed below:
- From the UK: EasyJet and CityJet fly from London. Flybe fly from Manchester and Southampton but also indirectly from other cities such as Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belfast.
- From Ireland: Direct flights are operated by Ryanair out of Dublin.
- From the Netherlands: Air France fly direct from Amsterdam.
From Germany: Transavia fly seasonally from Berlin and Volotea seasonally from Munich. Air France fly some direct flights and also indirectly from Dusseldorf and Munich.
- From Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland: Indirect flights are available with Air France from all four respective capitals: Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo and Helsinki.
- From France: Air France fly direct out of Paris, Nice and Marseille. EasyJet also fly from Nice, along with Lyon and Toulouse. Hop! fly from several cities including Lyon and Toulouse and Ryanair also fly from Marseille.
HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORTS TO THE HOTEL
From Nantes Atlantique Airport:
- By car: The airport is an hour and 50 minutes’ drive from the hotel.
From the E3, take the exit 48a-Porte Sorinières/Bordeaux/La Roche-sur-Yon/Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu, and continue onto A83/E3 for about an hour and 15 minutes. Take exit 7 for the E3 and keep following signs to La Rochelle, and then to Île de Ré. Once you have crossed the bridge, follow the Itinéraire Sud Phares des Baleines on road D201, then to La Flotte on D201E1. Keep following La Flotte and merge onto D735. Stay on D735 all the way to the hotel – in Route Saint Clément in the village of Ars-en-Ré, turn right onto Route de la Grange, the hotel is right next to Place Carnot.
From La Rochelle Airport:
- By car: La Rochelle is a 40 minutes’ drive away.
Follow signs to Ile de Ré or Pont de Ré, and cross the bridge leading you to the island. Follow the Itinéraire Sud Phares des Baleines on road D201, then to La Flotte on D201E1. Keep following La Flotte and merge onto D735. Stay on D735 all the way to the hotel – in Route Saint Clément in the village of Ars-en-Ré, turn right onto Route de la Grange, the hotel is right next to Place Carnot.
- By taxi: The taxi-ride to the hotel should cost between £35 and £40.

BY TRAIN
The closest train station is La Rochelle - Ville, 28 miles from the hotel. Trains are regularly coming in from Paris and Nantes. Tickets can be booked on the SNCF website.
From Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays and French bank holidays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
