The Belgrave Hotel ★★★★

Modern style in a traditional Georgian townhouse, with an ideal central London location!

Remarkable

‘The Belgrave Hotel’ – the name alone had me dreaming of London’s most exclusive district, Belgravia. I pictured myself rubbing shoulders with its wealthy residents, such as Roman Abramovich, Joan Collins, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Elle Macpherson, Nigella Lawson… the list could go on. I felt right at home amid this A-list company thanks to the luxurious comfort, grand London style and flawless service I received during my weekend here. The Belgrave combines the two faces of the British capital, as it conceals the very best of ‘urban-chic’ and contemporary design within four gorgeously traditional Georgian townhouses. More Victoria and Albert on the outside while more Posh and Becks on the inside, this is the London retreat where English heritage meets 21st century glamour, for the perfect city break in the heart of the capital.

Chic idea: to make the most of your time in London, book your tickets in advance for a wide range of activities, here.

  • To get you in the mood, Tozi does an excellent pre-theatre menu, a six course, tapas-style Italian extravaganza, served every day from 5.30pm to 7pm. www.tozirestaurant.co.uk
  • London has no shortage of outstanding museums and art galleries to visit: the V&A, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, the National Gallery, the Tate Modern, the British Museum… The Belgrave is well located for exploring the Tate Britain, one of London’s finest art museums, which now includes nine new galleries following major renovations completed last year. www.tate.org.uk/visit/tate-britain
  • Especially for fans of classic 70s sitcom Fawlty Towers (but even for people who have never watched it!), a dining experience/show with a difference should not be missed at ‘Faulty Towers – The Dining Experience’, an unofficial tribute to John Cleese’s hilarious creation. Actors expertly bring Basil, Manuel and Sybil to life at their hapless best, with most of the comedy improvised as the cast interact with and play off diners. And the food is better than you would expect from the shambolic Torquay hotel!
