Le M de Megève ★★★★★

Megève is a picturesque village in the French Alps with an atmosphere that is at once both familial and stylish. A place made all the more irresistible by the delightful M de Megève, one of the newest establishments in the village.

As soon as I entered this hotel, I could not stop myself from falling in love with it. Architect Jean-Noël Picot, interior designer Alain Perrier and hotel owner François Benais have worked hard to transform the former Manège hotel into a completely new jewel in the crown of this wonderful Alpine mountain resort. Between them, they have totally refurbished the former hotel and added twelve new suites. The M de Megève has been designed like a chalet, with a unique blend of authentic and contemporary spirit. Old leather, antique wooden furniture, stone and furs set the tone.

After your five-star welcome, you will probably want to luxuriate in the lobby, with armchairs that look like the perfect reward after your journey to this stylish and cosy mountain village. Still, you might prefer to follow the bellboy to your bedroom, which is a beautiful space with a lovely mountain-chalet feel. The light wood complements the designer fabrics perfectly, and the soft and comfortable carpet makes for a warmth and authenticity. We were especially pleased to discover our private balcony, where we could relax with a view over the inner courtyard.

After a day walking in the mountains, there’s nothing better than a trip to the spa which offers a dreamlike 300 square metres entirely dedicated to your wellbeing. There’s a swimming pool, fitness centre, hot tub, sauna and a steam room carved out in the rock, as well as Cinq Mondes treatments and massage rooms.

You can be sure of a warm welcome in the hotel bar. The unique blend of contemporary design and local features means it’s a lovely place to linger over a cocktail. In the restaurant, Chef Stéphane Thoréton cooks up mountain specialities with his own unique signature, which are sure to satisfy even the most demanding foodies. The dishes were brimming with flavour, thanks to the high quality fresh ingredients. The M de Megève is a contemporary and authentic luxury chalet, through and through.
