Hyatt Paris Madeleine ★★★★★

Every time I travel on the Eurostar I think of it as a true God send, I would have missed out on so much if quick and easy travel weren’t available at just a train station away. My husband and I were on a weekend away to break the everyday monotony of our own city. We couldn’t wait to jaunt about the streets of Paris recalling all the movies that had been filmed here and recreating our favourite film romances.

Somehow the city never seems to tire for us. But I think it’s because of the endless things to do, see and visit here, no one could ever find themselves bored! From the wealthy streets of the 16th to the hip and trendy Le Marais, Paris is just so diverse, there’s something for everyone. When comfort, convenience and luxury are concerned the Parisians do not spare a penny or rather, un centime. Hyatt Madeleine is a perfect example of this spirit with its opulent décor and five-star service, no detail is undersigned, no need not provided for, yet we didn’t have to spend all our pennies for a stay in one of their lavish rooms, thanks to the VeryChic offer.

We popped out of the metro and walked the short distance to the hotel, it effortlessly blended into the chic Parisian surroundings and its façade was iconic Haussmanien. We were well and truly in Paris! We found our hotel in the middle of Paris’ most chic shopping district, only five minutes from Boulevard Haussmann and the alluring Printemps and Galeries de la Fayette. The interior of the hotel is sleek decorated in neutral tones and stylish lighting with all the air of a luxury hotel plus that Parisian sophistication. After a smooth check-in a lovely member of staff lead us up to our room, asking us what we would like to see and if we needed any recommendations, what a great welcome!

Our room was small but cosy and still a good size for Parisian standards, perhaps we would go for the Executive room rather than the standard next time for a longer stay. It has a modern yet French feel with the view of curled, iron balconies just outside the window. There was a decent sized queen bed, light wooden furniture and elegant floor-length curtains. The bathroom was airy and light with a marble finish. Upon our arrival we collapsed on the bed for a 10 minute snooze and rest, taking the Eurostar straight after work can take its toll!

After managing to prise ourselves from the clutches of the comfortable bed, thanks to the inevitable rumbling of our stomachs, we ventured around the hotel to check out our dining options. This is when we came across the centre piece of the hotel, its chef d’oeuvre straight from Gustave Eiffel’s workshops. A fantastic glass roof over La Chinoiserie, a restaurant which cooks up all sorts of Mediterranean inspired dishes, with Patrick Charvet as the head chef. Simply delicious! Wanting to finish our evening off in style, the way one does when they are in Paris, we sauntered over to Café M wine bar a for tasteful journey through rich Mediterranean wines. With merry faces we drew the evening to a close and retired to our room wanting to wake up fresh for our next day’s adventures.

However, disappointingly we woke us less fresh than we had anticipated. There was no need to worry though, downstairs breakfast was waiting and that was more than enough to kick us in jolly action! The wide range of choice and delicious food made us ready for the day to begin, refuelling our sleep minds and bodies. Thinking about my mind and body, I was dreaming about a massage in the spa or perhaps a trip to the hammam…

When Sunday arrived we woke up a little later cherishing a lie-in before the daily grind of Monday. It was then that we discovered a little detail which made me wish my sister was here! Over brunch there are patisserie classes for children, a perfect way to keep the kids entertained whilst you take time with your morning treats. All the kids seemed to be enjoying themselves, and how convenient that it taught them to bake also. I would have to recommend this place to my sister and her family!
