A holiday here in the Algarve, is in many ways, to rub shoulders with the stars. A whole host of them have chosen to make this sun soaked heaven their home, while many more are regular visitors to the area, including Bonnie Tyler, Steven Gerrard, and Prince William! If it's good enough for pop and football royalty, not to mention genuine future kings, it'll do me nicely. So what is it that makes this place so sought-after? VidaMar Resort Hotel Algarve ***** is located in the Algarve, on the south-eastern coast of Portugal in the heart of the seaside resort Salgados, only a 15 minute drive from Albufeira.

BY PLANE

  • Faro Airport (FAO) sits about 4km / 2.5mi west of Faro in the Algarve, around 50km (45 minutes') drive from the hotel. It is a fairly well served international airport which receives flights, regular and seasonal, from many capitals and major cities across Europe, including from the UK. Alternatively, even better served Lisbon Airport (LIS) is located around a 2 and a half hour drive to the north.

    From the airport to the hotel:
    • Transfer service: there are many transfer companies that operate from the airport to the surrounding area. It is a good idea to book a transfer service in advance (rather than take a taxi upon arrival).
    • Car: we recommend renting a car, as it will be far easier to get around and to explore this wonderful region. Major car rental companies are available at the airport, but be sure to book in advance, especially in summer!
