  • The location in the centre of the Meatpacking District in Manhattan, listed as New York’s most fashionable district by the prestigious New York Times!
  • The High Line Park is located just one block away, an elevated urban garden occupying one mile of a disused railway and offering calm walks through the heart of the Big Apple.

  • The decor and incredible views from the Plunge Bar & Lounge on the top floor of the hotel, the best place to admire the sunset over the Hudson or take a dip with Manhattan spreading out beneath you.
  • After a day of sightseeing or a hectic night in the City That Never Sleeps, the spa is a perfect spot to unwind and relax.
  • The atmosphere throughout the hotel makes it one of the trendiest in the whole of New York.
Gansevoort Meatpacking ★★★★

The best of New York glamour in the Big Apple’s chicest district.

By Edward Fairbairn, VeryChic correspondent
I had never even been there but I knew the city like the back of my hand. Growing up, the Big Apple had been a constant cultural reference for me, as it still is today. I had seen dreams come true and romance blossom, monsters running riot and alien invasions, and I had seen all the glitz and glamour of the City That Never Sleeps. From King Kong to Sex and the City, Saturday Night Fever to West Side Story, Godzilla to Friends, I felt like I had seen it all. Keen to go and live the highlife in the City of Skyscrapers, I booked a stay in the Gansevoort Meatpacking, one of the newest and trendiest spots to experience that very same glitz and glamour, to live out your own dreams and romances surrounded by New York’s beautiful people. With great excitement I crossed the Atlantic, the sound of Frank Sinatra ringing in my ears the whole way: “Start spreading the news, I'm leaving today, I want to be a part of it, New York, New York!

Chic idea: to make the most of your time in New York, book your tickets in advance for a wide range of activities, here.

HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORTS TO THE HOTEL

  • The airports of JFK International and Newark Liberty are both located within 20-25 km (25-30 minutes) of the hotel, although routes and times depend on often heavy traffic conditions and can therefore be longer.

    - By taxi: a taxi is the most comfortable, but not the most economical solution. Above all, be sure to take a real, licensed taxi (choose one from the designated taxi rank at the airport). It costs about $ 50 from John F. Kennedy or Newark airport to Manhattan, plus any tolls on the way and the tip (15 %); all in all, the total cost is usually around $ 70.

    - By bus: The NYC Airporter run services between John F. Kennedy airport and the city centre; get off at Port Authority Bus Terminal. (Around $16 One-Way and $29 Round Trip.)
Meanwhile, the Olympia Newark Express runs from Newark Liberty airport to the city centre; get off at Port Authority Bus Terminal. (Around $16 One-Way and $28 Round Trip.)
From Port Authority Bus Terminal, you can take the subway service A, C or E from 34th Street – Penn Station down to 14th Street – Eighth Avenue.

    - By private shuttle: You can also take a private shuttle (capacity: 8 people maximum), from Shuttle New York, which will drop passengers off in front of their hotel. You can book in a shared or private shuttle, however you must book before you leave.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

  • - Subway: 14th Street – Eighth Avenue subway station is served by services A, C & E (blue) and is a 6 minute walk from the hotel. When exiting the metro walk down 8th Avenue and turn right down West 14th Street; then turn left down 9th Avenue, the hotel will be on the left.

    - Bus: The bus stop Hudson St/West 13 St is two minutes down the road from the hotel, served by lines M11 (orange) and M14A (green).
