This summer, I decided that it was time to create the perfect holiday, with family and friends all together for a week of fun and relaxation. A hotel would be too complicated, so I knew a spacious villa would be the perfect solution, somewhere that everyone could have their own privacy, where it would be easy to cook and eat together and where the children would have fun all day long. We all wanted it to be somewhere sunny, and the smell of lavender (my favourite) would be the icing on the cake!
Luckily for us, VeryChic had the perfect suggestion – 22 villas surrounded by unspoilt countryside right in the heart of the Luberon region in France. Le Clos Savornin offers four-star guest accommodation, where you can enjoy all the pleasures and comforts of your very own country home. As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be the perfect place for us.
So, with a couple of friends and a combined total of four lively children, we arrived on a gorgeous mid-summer morning at one of the villas. We were all immediately blown away by our home from home. The villas are laid out like a hamlet, and you really feel as if you are in a little Provençal village. There are fountains, green lawns and a boules pitch for games in the early evening. All in all, there is everything for good old-fashioned holiday fun – but with all the modern comforts too!
Since there were quite a lot of us, we had gone for one of the biggest villas with four bedrooms. The atmosphere inside is refined and simple, with light colours on the walls and painted wooden furniture. The interiors are really very contemporary, which is a great match for such a beautiful and authentic setting. The views over the countryside were just breath-taking. Inside, the kitchen has to be one of the best bits. It is very spacious and fully equipped with all the essential comforts, including a dishwasher, American-style fridge and toaster, which makes group holidays run that little bit more smoothly! The villas also have washing machines and tumble dryers, which are essential for a large group. If you are worried about the heat, then fear not, as the villas also come with air conditioning.
The bedrooms are spacious and the bed linen is provided for you, which leaves more space in your luggage for those all-important dresses and sandals. As in the living spaces, the decoration in the bedrooms is contemporary with some lovely Provençal touches. All the bedrooms have their own bathrooms, which is perfect for avoiding shower queues in the mornings!
Still, I have to admit that my favourite part was the pretty shaded patio that led out onto the garden and heated swimming pool. We spent much of our time throughout the week around that table. It was perfect for outdoor dining, games, evening drinks and afternoon naps, and you can smell the gorgeous perfumes of Provence and really get into the holiday spirit.
Right from our first lunch around that table, with the children already impatient to jump into the pool, we were sure that we had found the perfect spot.
