By Lizzie Davey, VeryChic correspondant

Paris is a difficult city not to fall in love with – its fast-beating heart is filled with chain bridges and unparalleled architecture that casts a charming silhouette against the setting sun. It oozes arty charm, and in the 6th arrondissement this characteristic seems to beat the loudest thanks to the close proximity of major museums. It is here that I find the Hotel Da Vinci, a luxurious hotel dedicated to the paintings, drawings, and inventions of Leonardo Da Vinci himself. The sumptuous rooms, relaxation area, and the prominent display of art provided the perfect backdrop from which to explore Paris.

HOW TO GET THERE

PLANE

  • Paris is served by three main airports: Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), located 25 km (16 mi) to the northeast of Paris, Paris Orly (ORY), located 13 km (8.1 mi) south of Paris, and Paris Beauvais (BVA), around 85 km (53 mi) north of Paris (near the city of Beauvais).

Paris Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly receive flights from most capitals and major cities across Europe. Meanwhile, low-cost airlines (notably Ryanair), operate flights to Paris Beauvais from many cities across Europe.

FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL

  • From Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport:
    - By taxi: Taxis are easily found outside each terminal, be sure to take an officially licensed taxi from the rank. Fares vary depending on traffic, but expect to pay between 50 to 65 euros.

    - By train: This is generally the most cost-efficient method. The airport connects to the city via Line B of the RER; take the train to Gare du Saint-Michel. From there it is a 15 minute walk to the hotel. You can either switch to the metro station to get closer to the hotel (Line 4, Saint—Germain-des-Près stop), or finish your journey with a short taxi ride to the hotel.

    From Paris Orly Airport:
    - By taxi: Taxis are easily found outside each terminal, make sure to take an officially licensed taxi from the rank. Fares vary depending on traffic, but expect to pay between 30 to 40 euros.

    - By train: The airport is connected to RER via the Orlyval bus service, which will drop you off at the RER station Anthony. From there, you can take Line B to Gare du Saint-Michel. From there it is a 15 minute walk to the hotel. You can either switch to the metro station to get closer to the hotel (Line 4, Saint—Germain-des-Près stop), or finish your journey with a short taxi ride to the hotel.
