  • La Boîte à Sardine. No canned sardines here! It's fish as fresh as it gets in this colourful fish-mongers, where you can get a little table and feast on perfectly prepared lobster or exquisitely cooked sea bass straight from the sea. 2 Boulevard de la Libération, 13001 Marseille. +33 4 91 50 95 95
  • Beautiful Art and Architecture. It is a classic, but don't let the trendier, albeit fabulous, modern museums trump this one! • A Marseille institution. Come here early to squeeze onto the terrace and watch the spectacular sunset over the old port with a tasty cocktail. Ignore the opening hours on the website, it doesn't close at 2pm but rather 2am! Live bands Wednesdays and Fridays. 34 Quai Du Port, 13002 Marseille. +33 4 91 90 36 64

  • Romantic fish! Well, romantic dining overlooking the old port whilst eating fresh fish. I particularly recommend the Marseille classic 'bouillabaisse', their good ol’fashioned fish soup. Chez Madie - 138 quai du Port, 13002 Marseille.+33 4 9190 4087
