PLANE
The closest airport is Cancún International Airport (CUN), located around 15-20 kilometres south of Downtown Cancún and 36.5km from the hotel (approximately a 31 minute drive).
The airport is fairly well served internationally. It receives a number of direct flights from large cities/capitals across Europe, most notably from the UK and Germany. Otherwise many indirect options with just one transfer are available, for example via Europe, the USA or elsewhere in Mexico.
ADMINISTRATIVE FORMALITIES
Citizens of EU countries including the UK do not require a visa to enter Mexico as tourists, visitors in transit, or business visitors, for up to 180 days.
It is required to complete an immigration form and have this with you when you enter and leave Mexico. You can get one either when you arrive (forms are available on board flights to Mexico) or online in advance from the National Institute of Immigration website.
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your intended date of entry to Mexico. Immigration officials at the port of entry may ask to see proof of your departure plans from Mexico before allowing you entry to the country.
Important note: if choosing flights with a transfer via another country, check for any further requirements by that country.
For instance, if you are flying via the United States, you will require an ESTA Visa, citizens of a number of countries including the UK are eligible for the Visa Waiver Program (VWP).
