View all offersThe Asilo Masi is a restored 18th-century mansion. The building’s façade and interior give you the impression that this is where artistry and design meet traditional Tuscan farmhouse elegance. The beautiful gardens are full of flowering shrubs, olive trees and traditional Tuscan cypresses. The restoration has been carried out by the owner, the Countess Cristina Gotti Lega, and her excellent taste shows everywhere in the overall country-chic design and numerous little touches of artworks and antiques. There are comfortably furnished terraces everywhere you look, surrounded by lovingly tended pots, shrubs and ancient olives.
Our romantic room had a four-poster bed bedecked with gossamer white drapes and ultra soft linen. The floor was made of the original Italian terracotta tiles and a spacious elegant bathroom, complete with Penhaligon toiletries, completed our comfort zone!
Our anniversary dinner in the candle-lit dining room, surrounded by family portraits, antique dining furniture and silver tableware; a truly romantic experience, as well as a gastronomic delight. . The restaurant’s interpretation of a traditional Tuscan favourite, baked gnocchi with local truffle oil, was memorable, and accompanied by locally-produced wine. Over dinner, we planned our excursions for the next couple of days. We didn’t feel in any hurry to tear ourselves away, but since this is the perfect base from which to explore Pisa, Florence, the Chianti Region and the rest of this corner of Tuscany, we took the opportunity.
