Borgo Bucciano
17th-century idyll in the rolling Tuscan hills.
By Ellie Burnage, VeryChic correspondent
What springs to mind if you’re asked to dream up a picture-perfect Tuscan getaway? Your thoughts will immediately wander to lush rolling hills abounding in sun-kissed vineyards, olive trees swaying in a warm breeze, terracotta-tiled terraces and the most exquisite culinary cabaret of Italian fare. Well, we’ve got some excellent news; this splendid daydream isn’t just a figment of your imagination. It’s very much real, heavily laden with old-time Italian elegance and ready to spoil its guests with a whimsical Italian jaunt of dreams - Borgo Bucciano.
“Peace” - freedom from disturbance; tranquillity.
It’s undeniable that life’s peacefulness is often disrupted by stress, urgency and worry in our modern technology-driven era. The remedy? A stay at the ancient village of Borgo Bucciano in the rolling Tuscan hills, which strips everything back and proudly champions the good things in life that are sometimes the simplest: peace and quiet, wonderful food and beautiful scenery.
As the complex is housed in a villa and farm that were originally reconstructed in the early 1600s, stepping foot on the magnificent grounds is like travelling back in time. Renovated in the 1990s by the Bianchi family, every apartment and common space is beautifully decorated with cotto tiled floors and elegant materials.
“Serenity” - the state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled.
Serenity is imbued in to each and every aspect of your days here from dawn until dusk. During the summer months, a complimentary continental breakfast of homemade cakes, jams, cold cuts and cheese can be enjoyed in the atmospheric cellar or in the main square, if you fancy dining al fresco. Afternoons are whiled away dipping in the panoramic pool that’s enveloped by majestic olive and cypress trees, or meandering around the bustling streets of nearby towns and villages.
“Quietude” - a state of stillness, calmness, and quiet in a person of place.
Borgo Bucciano offers its guests a unique opportunity to forget all about the outside world and instead immerse yourselves in its 16th century time capsule of peace, serenity and quietude. Daydreams do come true and this beautiful Italian refuge is the result! Prego!
